Trauma

Process yesterday, so you can find peace in today.

Healing from past trauma is a journey that involves understanding, acceptance, and restoration. It requires acknowledging the pain, and the impact on daily life, while fostering resilience and hope. Through supportive therapy and self-exploration, individuals can uncover coping mechanisms, reframe their experiences, and build a new narrative. This process is not linear; it may include setbacks and breakthroughs. Ultimately, healing offers the opportunity to reclaim personal power, cultivate emotional well-being, and develop healthier relationships, allowing individuals to redefine their lives beyond the shadows of their past. At Redefine & Renew Counseling, we provide a safe space for you to begin your healing journey.

The effects of trauma

When we experience traumatic events, stress hormones flood the body and our survival skills kick in. Remaining in this heightened state for long periods of time, can lead to a dysregulated nervous system, effectively trapping the body in a cycle of reactivity. Somatic techniques incorporate the body into your therapeutic journey.

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

PTSD occurs when we do not have the tools and resources to process traumatic events. The lack of tools can lead to overwhelm, dysregulation, dissociation and the shutting down of processing the event(s). The path to healing starts by learning the tools.

Domestic Violence

Did you know domestic violence is not always physical? There are several categories of violence. All types involve causing harm; including, but not limited to, physical harm, manipulation, coercion, controlling resources or denying fundamental needs.

We are here when you’re ready to start your journey.

We must intentionally choose to clothe ourselves with these life-giving qualities: compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.
